HOSA procedures team places first in the nationFive Ryan High School students received first-place national recognition for their parliamentary procedures in the U.S. Health Occupations Students of America competition. The students were recognized for their outstanding accomplishment at HOSA’s National Leadership Conference last week in Dallas. The parliamentary procedures team members were Mariana Alfaro, Courtney Dickson, Nicole Lemon, Morgan Ray and Melissa Robbins. Ryan’s medical reading team students earned ninth place at the national competition. Team members are Danae Fields, Emily Ray and Whitney Turney. About 4,300 students competed in 46 categories, and in each competitive event the top 10 were recognized onstage. More than 5,700 HOSA delegates, guests and judges attended the 31st annual conference. The parliamentary procedures coach is Richard Hayes, and HOSA advisers are Helen Hayes and Cheryl Lane. A parliamentary procedures team from Ryan High School’s Health Occupations Students of America chapter won first place in the organization’s national competition.
