RICHARD D. HAYES is a Real Estate trail lawyer specializing in Eminent Domain, Business, Real Estate, Construction and Business Litigation. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas Christian University (1975), his Master of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University (1976), and his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law (1978). He served as a briefing attorney for Adrian Spears, the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas (1978-1979).
He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both Commercial and Residential Real Estate Law (1987-present). He is licensed to practice in all Texas Courts; the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas; the Courts of Appeal for the 5th and 11th Circuits; and the Supreme Court of the United States of America. He is the past Chairman of the Denton County Republican Party (1996-2002), is a member of the Pachyderm Club of Denton County (President 2010-2012), and served on the Denton County Elections Commission. He is a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association and the Council for National Policy.
He served on the Boards of Directors of North Texas Savings & Loan Association Association, Jefferson heritage Bank and Jefferson Heritage Mortgage Corporation, and on the Board of Regents of Texas Woman’s University (1996-2002, appointed by Honorable George W. Bush).
He is Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Denton Chamber of Commerce (1994-1995), Past President of the Denton Kiwanis Club (1993-1994), served on the Project Cabinet of Vision for Denton-The 21st Century, served on the Organizing Committee for the 24th and 25th Annual Texas Special Olympics, served on the Board of Directors of the Denton Public Schools Foundation, and served on the Board of Directors of the Longhorn Council, Boy Scouts of America (2005-2015, Vice President 2003-2007 and Council Commissioner 2007-2009), as Scoutmaster of Troop 140, Denton, Texas (2006-2010) and Wood Badge Course Director (WB-112) 2010.
He is a Professional Registered Parliamentarian, member of the American College of Parliamentary Lawyers, National Association of Parliamentarians, American Institute of Parliamentarians, Texas State Association of Parliamentarians (President 2012-2013), North Texas Registered Parliamentarians (President 2014-2016). he coaches the award winning Billy Ryan High School Parliamentary Procedure team having won 9 state Championships and 3 National Championships.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the North Texas State Fair Association and the Texas State Association of Parliamentarians.
